Thanks to the relaxed vibe pretty much everywhere in the Abersoch area, this neck of the woods really is perfect to escape to.

Abersoch is a place where you can turn off your phone, stroll down the beach, grab a hot drink in a nearby café and take in the beauty of your surroundings for hours. There’s a reason so many people choose to staycation here each year. Check out my five ways to unwind, below, and plan the most chilled getaway yet…

1. Late breakfasts at the beach

Roll out of bed and head to Llanbedrog Beach Bar, The Warren Sandbar, or The Little Tea Rooms, where you can sip a fresh morning coffee overlooking the beach. Treat yourself to full Welsh breakfasts, avo toast, eggs benedict, pancakes, milkshakes and more.

2. Beach days

There’s no need to rush off after brunch. Abersoch and the surrounding areas seem to have their own microclimates and there are plenty of days of the year where our local beaches trump those of Spain or the South of France. For the most relaxing of beach days, book yourself in over the June, early July or September months to spend hours peacefully lounging on the sand.

3. Chill in a beer garden

On the beach, in the village or at the harbour – there are so many options, if spending the day with a drink in hand is what you yearn for. Practically all of the local pubs include outdoor seating so you can sit back, put your sunglasses on and take full advantage of table service while you chat the day away.

4. A refreshing walk with rewards

I feel like there’s something very classic ‘British Holiday’ about planning a big walk based around what ice-cream shop or pub you can visit half-way. This might be a slight curveball, but walking is scientifically proven to reduce stress and clear the mind. So, it is therefore a valid contender for my ‘unwind’ list.

My top tip here would be; decide which café or pub you’d like to go to and work backwards from there. With the amount of eateries available, you really won’t struggle to incorporate this into your stay! More on my top 3 walks.

5. Stargaze

Thanks to the miles of open ocean around, light pollution is minimal in Abersoch and makes for some spectacular stargazing on a clear night.

Pull up a chair on the decking, or head down to the beach, and see if you can name the constellations or even make a wish on a shooting star. You won’t regret it.

Abersoch is one of the best places to book a relaxing Welsh getaway. I hoped you enjoyed my five ways to unwind and thank you for reading.

Until next time,
